Ghoul Garden pets can drain your Candy Corn faster than you might expect. Talk to Ethan at the Explorer Stand to enter the Halloween map, then keep an eye out for wild animals roaming around. The right pick depends on what you actually do in a session: hunt pets, protect crops, or slip into another garden. Before spending, check your Grow a Garden 2 Items and see whether you already have gear that can help you claim a rare find.
What the Rare Pets Cost
The price jump is steep. Ghost Dog is a manageable early purchase at 30,000 Candy Corn, while Black Cat costs 50,000 and Black Crow costs 100,000. Bat is where saving starts to feel serious, at 1,200,000. After that, you’re looking at a much longer farm. The figures below give you a sense of the upper end, though live prices and spawn rates can change.

Those odds aren’t a promise. You could spot a rare pet quickly, or spend a long evening checking the map without seeing one.
Pick a Pet for Your Routine
Ghost Dog turns you invisible every five minutes, with the duration depending on its size. It’s handy for scouting empty gardens, though standing around in the open still isn’t a great plan. Black Crow calls wild animals toward you, making it a more direct choice for hunting. Black Cat improves your odds of finding rare wild animals too, but there’s a catch: it makes Gold and Rainbow plant mutations less common. Take it off when you’re farming those mutations. Older descriptions may mention Fall Harvest for Black Crow, so check the live interface if its location seems unclear.
Keep Your Goals Separate
1. Equip Black Cat when you’re looking for rare animals.
2. Unequip it before growing crops for Gold or Rainbow mutations.
Defence and Night Runs
Bat and Tarantula both help when other players come after your garden. Bat stuns an intruder and takes Candy Corn equal to a small share of their total. Tarantula traps an intruder in webbing and can make them drop what they’re carrying. On a busy server, both may earn their place. On a quiet one, save your Candy Corn and try a single defender first. Vampire Fox is a different sort of pet: it goes after seeds at night and may bring back Candy Corn. Plan a route before nightfall rather than leaving it equipped through the day.
Plan a Short Session
1. Check the map for pets before committing to a purchase.
2. Save your night route for Vampire Fox.
When the Biggest Finds Appear
Mummy can copy wild pets brought home by players on the server. Its chance depends on size, and it can produce up to five copies a day. Once you’ve hit that limit, there’s less reason to keep a session running just for its ability. Centipede is another late goal: it collects ripe fruit from empty gardens at night, bites intruders, and adds walking speed. Useful, sure, but its price makes it a poor first target for most players.
Make Each Trip Count
The Necromancer Staff can claim wild pets across the map without paying their listed Candy Corn prices. If you’ve got one, consider saving its use for a moment when more than one expensive pet is visible. Friends can cover separate parts of the map and call out a location as soon as they find something. Don’t linger typing when a rare pet is already in sight. Move over, check the situation, and decide whether to claim or buy.
Keep Your Main Garden Moving
Track what your crops earn per hour after seed restocks. Divide a pet’s price by that rate and the grind becomes much easier to judge. If you choose to buy Grow a Garden 2 Sheckles for main world upgrades, remember that Ghoul Garden pets still require Candy Corn. Keep enough attention on both gardens so a Halloween hunt doesn’t stall the rest of your progress.
